Darwin Litchfield Kakadu Katherine Gorge Tour – Details

Day 1 - Depart Darwin and pass numerous World War II airfields critical to the defence of Australia in WWII.  Explore Litchfield National Park to view spectacular features such as Magnetic Termite Mounds and majestic waterfalls. Discover permanent waterfalls such as Tolmer, Wangi and Florence Falls and watch, walk or swim in a number of these. Also swimming opportunity at beautiful Buley Rockhole.  Plus we explore the Lost City of Litchfield, spectacular sandstone formations. Return to Darwin for overnight.

Day 2 - Depart Darwin travelling via Humpty Doo and enter Kakadu National Park world heritage area. Visit Window on the Wetlands tranquil viewing area that supports abundant wetlands birdlife. After a look at the township of Jabiru, take the picturesque drive to Ubirr Rock. Walk through amazing Aboriginal Art galleries, then to a spectacular lookout over the wetlands. Optional viewing and/or visit to nearby Ranger Uranium Mine, or scenic flight. We visit the Bowali Visitor Centre and gain an appreciation of the special nature of this World rated National Park. Enjoy the resort facilities at Cooinda Lodge before a spectacular sunset walk at Yellow Waters viewing the birdlife settling in for the night. Overnight at Cooinda.

Day 3 – Board the early boat on the Yellow Waters to cruise amongst extraordinary birdlife and crocodiles in this World Heritage-listed wetlands. We visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before a spectacular walk amongst the stunning Nourlangie Rock art – a highlight of Kakadu. Visit Gumlon falls, and beautiful waterhole, and the swimming area before travelling to Katherine for overnight.

Day 4 – Join the morning Katherine Gorge 2 hour cruise. The cruise travels through the spectacular rock faces of Katherine Gorge where you stop and view the ancient rock art of the Jaywon people. After morning tea, join our tour heading for Kununurra, the Kimberley and Broome or return to Darwin or routes south after checking out the Aboriginal art centres and galleries of the NTs 3rd biggest town, Katherine.
